Overplayed AA postflop?
$1 tournament so I don't care about anything apart from winning, my stack is about average with 8 tables left. Would anyone play the hand differently?

Re: Overplayed AA postflop?
Nope, this seems right. MPs flop raise is not a good sign, but neither can you lay it down without God's own read. You'll often see a flush draw, AJ, QQ and (obviously) KK.

Re: Overplayed AA postflop?
I agree, and as you said, you were playing to win. (Best to get the chips new or get out.
You see this raise with AJ, KJ, QJ, and even J-x so often you have to call. A preflop all-in push makes no one fold here. Nothing you could have done differently. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, lol, I snuck in a beat story. |

Re: Overplayed AA postflop?
Given that you are playing for first, why not gamble with the aces and limp UTG? If, for example, the flop goes 4way, all limpers, your overpair still has pretty good value. Whoever flops a big one-pair hand will bet the weak draws out for you.
Of course, if you limp and it's raised, you can then make the judgement call of whether to keep gambling and smooth call, or iso-reraise allin. Again, this strategy is specifically designed to win first place, not lock up any ITM spot. |
