Default Demise of Omaha?

Serious question for Omaha fans. Every new poker player seems to be a holdem player these days. What do you all think about Omaha's future potential?

omaha is so similar to hold em that new hold em players pretty much means new omaha players as well.

omaha seems to work for small stakes games as it appears to look like any hand can win. and many times it does. so people who like to play alot of hands can find a reason to stick around. makes for good games.
it also works great for high limit and especially pot limit for the reason good players can find lots of ways to win without having the best hand. so it turns a game of getting your money in good. to a game of getting out the best hand.
with europe poker growing omaha will prosper over there at least.

To be perfectly honest I'm a converted HE player. I got so sick of HE after a while I started looking for a new game. I moved to Omaha Hi only for about a year and about 6 months ago found the joy that is O/8

i dont think omaha is going to go away anytime soon. im a regular hold em player, but i play omaha sometimes, and latgely a lot moreO/8 SnG's. Online in the low limits it seems to be a lot of players who just clicked on it to see whats going on, and at the casino its the same crazy people every time all the time, and they arent going anywhere.

Well, I actually agree with all of the above responses except the "most ridiculous post ever" Personally I'm a huge Omaha fan myself. But my question wasn't "why should people play Omaha?", but "why don't they?" Despite all the wonderful things you folks pointed out, if you look at the actually volume of Omaha games (especially in casinos), it has barely budged compared to the skyrocketing hold'em growth. Just curious why the empirical evidence is different from what we Omaha fans seems to accept as great rationales for popularity of the game.

People want to play the hold em like they see on the TV. It's the cadillac of poker.

1) Omaha will one day be popular
People will get tired of holdem and want to switch. Omaha gives them what they want: They Always Have A Hand. There is more action. You win bigger pots. The reason Holdem is hot is because of TV. If they televise Omaha then it will get just as popular.

2) Omaha is way profitable.
LIke I said, you always have a hand. And since your to stupid to know what a good hand is fish just keep throwing money in.
