Default When it comes to senses of humor . . .

how do poker players fare, in general? Note: not talking about YOUR sense of humor, which of course is sterling. You-da-man. Really. I'm talking about the wretched refuse of pokerdom that you hang out with on a daily basis (whether here or in live games).

Just curious as to opins . . . mine is that the level is that they take themselves and others more seriously than the average shmoe, and perhaps because of that, they're ON AVERAGE a little more clueless/humorless than others with the same general intelligence level.

But I can't prove this without doing a small non-random non-scientific poll. So respond, dammit.

If they are an average person, and the average person's number is 5, then isn't the number 5?

Your questions is, well, a bit silly

Default Silly you. The average *non-poker-playing*-shmoe is a \'5\'.

In my remarkably limited experience, while at the table many people lose any sense of humor they might have had.

People can take offense at jokes because they're having a losing session or even just took a bad beat, when otherwise they may se the humor and laugh or at least shrug it off.

I give poker players a 2.

I only voted #2 because some of the players are really nice but not much humor at the poker table.

I am not certain I care for humor at the poker table either. I like pleasant conversation and hearing interesting stories but jokes don't fit well at the poker table.

I think poker players in general are completely full of themselves.

I mean really, if someone's more full of themselves than I am they're really an incredible prick.

I originally had "2" as my vote, but based on the continuing clueless responses to LocalCollegePro in the general hold'em forum, I would like to change my vote to "1". Whether or not humor is appropriate AT the poker table, clearly some poker players have no sense of humor AWAY from the table.

You're not kidding. There have been so many responses to my query and nobody has seriously discussed sending me money. It's like they think everything's a joke. If there was a "0" I would choose that.
