Default Palms $110 SNGs

For those who like SNGs, I'd recommend the Palms $110 buy-in, which I think they're spreading through July 10th. I played in one last Friday (July 1st) - out of the other 9 players 5 didn't have a clue, 3 were local rocks, and one player was not bad but was overly aggressive (bluffed way too much). I finished third due to a horrendous run of bad cards - I'd think most decent players would consistantly finish in the money.

They're held in a large room to the left of the regular poker room, which wouldn't have been so bad if the AC had been working. The combination of 116 degree weather, unusually high humidity for Vegas, no AC and a windowless room made for a very unpleasant environment. But damn are the cocktail waitresses hot, which took a little sting out of the room being hot.

You're right on both counts. As for the wait - I had to wait about 1/2 hour (it was 7pm on a Friday night), but a little bit later they decided to get another one going and it seemed to fill up pretty quickly. So I would say late in the evenings the wait isn't bad, but I can imagine during the day it could be hours.

They're "$110" SNGs, so it looks like $10.

not bad.

For a live SNG thats pretty much incredible.

Most SNGs I've seen in B&Ms have at least a 20% VIG maybe even up to 30%

Any idea if this will continue beyond July 10th, or is this just a WSOP special? I will be in town from the 19th to the 24th.

The ten percent vig/rake has to be a short term offer I imagine....too good to be true longterm unless the chip structure is similar to that crappy Luxor daily tournament.

I saw a sign when I was there that said they would be holding SNGs through the 10th, but I didn't think to ask if they would be extending it (since I don't live near Vegas and won't be back for at least 4-5 months). As for the chip structure, I wish I could remember exactly what it was (and I was just there last Friday - I must be getting old!), but I thought it was very reasonable. I finished third, and I was there nearly 2 hours. The blinds didn't skyrocket up turning it into a crap shoot at all. I hope they're still holding them with the same vig when I'm back in the fall. Very beatable - very enjoyable. Especially when the AC came back on.
