Default Friday Music Suggestion \"Old School\" - Garden Variety

Garden Variety were an extremely underrated post-punk/hardcore band in the mid 90's. The singer is currently the frontman for Radio 4 (another awesome band) but these two albums are awesome for anyone who likes the Quicksand/Rival Schools/Jawbreaker/Burning Airlines genre of Post HC.

Actually they are a lot like HUM without the melody and production. Check them out for free on here.

Epitonic is a SICK resource for obscure indie mp3's. and it's free.

Epitonic

If you have never heard of New York's Garden Variety, you have missed one of the front-runners in the team of power punk bands that have made us all jump around in our rooms and drive too fast down the interstate. Garden Variety can be compared to Braid, Christie Front Drive, or Jawbreaker. Luckily, Garden Variety does their own thing with great songwriting and an angst-driven pop-punk approach that makes you finally smile at the end of a horrible day.

I like Rival Schools...and I like Hum...

You're making my life more complicated by making me aware of new music.

Speaking of Hum (HUM, whatevah), does anybody have any good quality MP3s they can send me of Astronaut and Heavenward...I actually own the albums but when I ripped them I must have set it for some crazy low level of quality because they sound awful.

Mac. When I have some free time I will rip them. I usually rip in high quality. If I don't get back to you, send me a PM next week to remind me.

Heh... no kidding. But keep 'em coming, Matt. After Bloc Party, you have my attention.

Coo. Just to warn, this is not as accessible (to vick Jack's term that I never use) as Bloc Party. You need some sort of aggressive/punk background (i think) to enjoy this. But the downloads are right there so...
