Weak hand with position
Dcifrths and I discussed this hand after it happened, and we disagree on what should have been done preflop. Opinions please?
Obviously book says, fold preflop. But villian is loosish preflop, and it looked alot like a steal. SB was also very loose, so I expected him to come along. My intention was to call and see the flop, to see if A) I hit or B) I can use position to take the pot. I'm dealt A3o on the button. Villian raises to $60 in front of me, and I call. Both blinds fold. Flop is 5QAr. He bets, I call. Turn is a 2c completing the rainbow. He checks, I bet, he calls. River is a 8d. He checks, I bet, he calls. How'd I do? Nick |

Re: Weak hand with position
If you truly must play the hand, just 3-bet it as you are basically hoping your ace high is good and the chances it holds up go way way down if you let the blinds come along. Folding should be your first choice though.

Re: Weak hand with position
Clark,
Thanks. Are you and dcifrths twins separated at birth? Chief911: so you think 3betting to isolate is a better move? Dcifrths: definately...post it and see what the good players say...clark would 3 bet that every day of the week and 2times on every other day of the week |

Re: Weak hand with position
heh. Well, I did say folding is your first option. Calling sucks though.

Re: Weak hand with position
Yeah, cold calling here is really really bad.
