Default Why we don\'t (or shouldn\'t) slow play vs. the fish

SB and CO are both LPP. Doubtless, a 3-bet flop would have won this hand.

Feel free to trash me. I need to break this habit.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $1.
UTG folds, Hero calls, MP1 folds, MP2 (poster) checks, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets, BB raises, Hero calls, MP2 folds, CO calls, SB calls.

Turn: (6.50 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero calls, CO calls, SB calls.

River: (10.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, CO calls, SB calls, BB folds.

Final Pot: 17.50 BB

Results in white below:
SB has Kd 6h (three of a kind, sixes).
Hero has Ah Tc (two pair, aces and tens).
CO has Ks Ac (two pair, aces and sixes).
Outcome: SB wins 17.50 BB.

A reraise on the flop might have made the small blind go away. Either way, you're building the pot which you want to do when you flop two pair.

Slowpplaying fish is always bad since they're not going to bet at you for the most part anyway. They're in there to chase and call. It's your job to always be betting and make them pay for it, to offset the suckouts.

I think a raise on the turn is a must.

Agree. Your title says it all. Fish don't understand the concept, therefore the power of slowplay is gone. If you have good cards, bet them, and they will pay you off.

I fold preflop.

I'd fold pre-flop and raise the turn.

Disregard... thought I was in the 6handed thread for some reason. Everyone point and laugh at Milky!
