I've had downswings before, but this is strange.
I put poker on hold in early March for school and other personal issues and was off it for four months. I returned gloriously this week and have had a terrible downswing. (I play 3/6, full table ring party network fyi.) All my stats seem pretty normal. 13.58vpip, W$SF:34.67%, went to SD: 29.44, w$SD:55, pfr: 7.26, total Aggr factor: 1.61. What is going on? Can anyone offer an explanation? Is this just a bad downswing or has the game changed a lot? |

You're clearly too loose. Also, it's obvious you're not obsessing about statistics enough.

13.58vpip too loose? I thought 17.75 was the target.
Or are you talking about post-flop? |

I also just noticed that you're only tracking your statistics to two decimal places. Honestly, how do you expect to beat the game? I mean, come on.

I still don't get what exactly makes that downswing strange? [censored] happens. My stats have not changed over time, and I've been running bad for a hell of a lot longer than one week.

PS You're too tight, not aggressive enough (pre or post flop), you're probably folding too much on the river. |

[ QUOTE ] You're too tight, not aggressive enough (pre or post flop), you're probably folding too much on the river. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Yup. I also fail to notice the 'strange' part of this down-swing (we don't even know how many BB's). Sometimes you win when you get good cards and also happen to coordinate with the flop. You will win more when your opponents coordinate with the flop at the same time you do....but don't coordinate with it as well. Sometimes you will also win when they hit the flop big but you happen to catch an even bigger river. During the times when the opposite is happening you will be more likely to lose. Alas, it is the nature of poker and the inherent variance involved. As a previous poster stated so profoundly and gloriously, "Get used to it." |

My PFR is higher than your VPIP. |
