1/2 NL Live Flopped trips- how to proceed
1/2 NL Live. 10 person.
Table is playing very loose preflop. limping any 2. many times if theres enough callers - playing any 2 for a marginal raise even "just to see the flop". EP calls. EP2 calls. Hero ($300) calls in MP with A4s. MP2 calls. CO calls. Button calls. SB calls. BB ($200) raises to $10. EP($500) calls. EP2($700) calls. Hero($300) calls. CO($250+) calls. Button($100+) calls. Flop (~$60) 4 9 4 rainbow. (6 players) Pre-flop raiser checks. EP checks. EP2 checks. Hero?? Edit: sorry for not including stack sizes in OP Pre flop raiser's standards: Pre-flop raiser raised with KQo UTG in another hand during the nite BTW- any issues with the pre-flop call? |

Does everyone have you covered (more importantly the raiser)?

Re: 1/2 NL Live Flopped trips- how to proceed
It's a pretty bad preflop call, imo. Even on THIS flop if someone other than the preflop raiser is giving a lot of action you have to be worried about 99. And this is the best possible flop other than the nut flush. Calling with suited aces is just not a great idea. You will hit an ace and convince yourself the raiser had KK and lose some extra bets. You will hit A4x flops and get counterfeited on the river. It's just not a good situation. I'd rather call with 54s than A4s.

Re: 1/2 NL Live Flopped trips- how to proceed
Preflop you should just fold to the raise. I probably would not limp for fear I would get raised. Once raised you are really only drawing to a flush, a set of 4's, or a miracle wheel that doesn't give someone a higher straight. None of that is going to happen often enough to warrant calling 5XBB.
On the flop I would bet meekly as though I were just trying to pick up the pot or betting on a pair of 9's. You are hoping to get raised, or have some callers drawing to two outers or second best hands. Bet whatever amount in this game would be perceived as a pick-up but no less than $30 IMO. |

Flop (~$60) 4 9 4 rainbow. (6 players) Pre-flop raiser checks. EP checks. EP2 checks. Hero?? [/ QUOTE ] Check Why!? Well, you're not going to get action. Unless they're calling raises with K4/Q4/J4 ??? It's so drawless you CAN give a free card. The only reason to bet would be if some of these guys would call down with top pair, in which case I'd say fire out 30, a half pot bet is PLENTY in this situation. The PF call is ok given the circumstances and stack sizes. Not wonderful, but I dont mind it like the others do. The important aspect of this hand: If you decide to check, you must have a set plan for the turn when a few cards hit. If you bet, the plan becomes alot easier, because you will likely not get action unless TT+ or top pair is out. If a 9 hits the turn, I'd c/f If an ace hits the turn I'd jam the pot If a broadway hit I'd bet half pot If a straight and flush card hit (like, if it was 4d 4h 9s and 8s hit) I'd go full pot to 3/4 If a 4 bet I'd go half pot I think, expecting to get action from ANY pp or perhaps ace I think those are all the possibilities |

BF- Awesome plans for specific turn cards
I really wanted to check here also seeing that it was such a drawless board and table viewed me as Tight ... most likely a weak 9 (i.e. 89, 9T) would have folded to my leading. However, since I had it jammed in my head to "not slow-play trips" I bet out $25 and picked up the pot right there. |

Re: 1/2 NL Live Flopped trips- how to proceed
I dislike checking, as you are unlikely to get action from hands you beat when you suddenly wake up later in the hand. I'd probably bet just under the pot to make it appear like I'm trying to take it down. At this point you have no reason to be worried about 99.
