dueces
Hand I witnessed.
2-5 nl live game Notes on the button... hero and button have been playing in this game together for over a year. Button is slightly winning player in this game. Hero dominates the game. 2 limpers to hero in CO, hero raises to 15, button calls, blinds fold, limpers call. hero has 1k in chips, button has 500. Flop comes A K 2 rainbow Checked to hero, hero bets 50, button calls, other 2 fold. Turn is a 7 hero checks, button bets 100, hero calls River is a 4 hero checks, button pushes for 350, hero folds. |

Re: dueces
Maybe I am missing something, why would you fold here? Did you have a good read? I think you are ahead most of the time. You are risking $350 to win approx $700, are you sure he is beating you 2 out of 3 times?
This line looks like how a big Ace would play the hand. I would not have given up control of the hand if you were going to consider folding when pressure was applied. I think most players would sense weakness after you checked the turn and bet accordingly. This is a hand you wait all night for, flop a set with an Ace on the board. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I payoff set over set here. |

Re: dueces
Yea hero had 22.
He folded it face up on the river, and then SB showed pocket aces for top set. The preflop raise is marginal but probly ok in that spot. If he checked SB was going to bet, I think his intention was to check raise turn, but he the way SB bet made him think against it. I'm not completely sure myself, but the river laydown was impressive and correct this time. There was a high level of read based elements going on. You guys think laydowns like this are something that are consistent in a strong players game? |

Re: dueces
Hi Truth,
[ QUOTE ] You guys think laydowns like this are something that are consistent in a strong players game? [/ QUOTE ] Only against hyper-readable opponents. You know, the type who are usually slightly winning players in the game? I'm guessing that Villain tends to fear Hero a great deal, and when he made that play on that board, Hero knew he could'nt have anything less than a set. It's still a hell of a laydown, though, because a scared player could've ostensibly called with AK pre-flop, and be betting top two here, IMO. Hero must've gotten a very strong tell-based read, also. But folding Huey, Dewey, and Louey FACE UP? Pwn3d. |
