Default Q: Conducting your own WSOP Satellite at a LV Hotel

A bunch of friends and I are meeting up in Vegas the first weekend of June. About 8 of us will be playing in the June 3 1.5 K NL WSOP event. We are all going to hit up the satellites at the Rio on Thursday but a friend and I had an idea about hosting our own little satellite Wednesday night in our hotel room after everyone arrives.

If all 8 people show, the buy in will be $200 each. First prize will be $1500 for the event and 80% of his own stake in the tourney. Second prize will be $100 and 8% stake of the winner. Third will get 6% stake. Fourth will get 2%.
Fifth thru eight will get 1%. Basically your $200 will guarantee you at least a 1% share of the winner in the WSOP 1.5K event.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of setup? Do the stake percentages sound about right? I am staying on the strip. I probably will need a table and some chairs and was thinking about contacting the conceriege. Will the casino be cool w/ this or am I going to have to keep it under wraps? Thanks for any advice...

Your setup seems fine if everyone agrees to it.

I personally would like everyone to get an equal stake. So 7 people left, 3% per person (gives the player only 79%, but 1% isn't much).

As for the equipment, I'm not an expert, but I can't see a casino ENCOURAGING people to play in their rooms vs. the floor.

I'll be there that weekend too for the first WSOP tourney. You said they'll be holding satellites for the 1.5K event on Thursday? I had heard they would have "some" on Friday morning before the tourney (starting at 8 am).

The stake idea is a great one. And 1% should be good enough for the losers (if the winner does well, you'll more than likely get back double the satellite buyin).

Thanks Super. I don't know anything about the satellites for sure, only rumors I've heard (including that the satellite winners actually get 'lammers' with a face value of $1500 which could be used in any of the 1.5k events)- if anybody knows anything for sure about the WSOP satellites please step forward.
