what are some of the key cocepts to learning this game, are they any sites/books that discuss it??

First off, you'd have to find a game, not too easy as far as I know. I think in 7 months of my nightly dealers choice game it was called three or four times, but that's all I've seen.

Super System has a small section on it.

Key concepts from a guy who hasn't played in 20 years:

1. The game changes radically when there are more than two players in the pot.

2. Win small pots with small hands--win big pots with big hands.

3. Learn to control the size of the pot.

4. A rough 8 is not a big hand when all the money is going in.

McEvoy's book on tournament poker also has a chapter on both California and Kansas City rules.
