Default river value bet or check through?

average party 15/30 game

folded to me in the CO with T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I raise, all fold but SB who calls. I've only been at the table an orbit and haven't seen anything unusual from him.

flop comes
2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

sb checks, i bet, he calls.

turn comes
8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

sb checks, i bet, he calls

river comes
T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

he checks

check through or value bet?

You should definitely bet. He is unlikely to have a straight, and slightly more likely to have a runner-runner flush (you gotta watch out for those at Party). Still your 2 pair is more than strong enough to bet for value here, esp. given that SB has not shown any strength whatsoever.

this is 100% standard. people often check hands they will call with but bet the straight here.

dont check through. if you do this at all you miss way too much value (ok, well only 1bb...but it adds up)

Default result

Good to know I did the correct thing.

I bet, he checkraised, I called

He showed Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and took it.

right on the money Barron.

People with a big hand like a straight or flush rarely check on the river when they get there. They are too afraid that the river will get checked through and they'll lose out on that last bet.

Bet this river 100% of the time.
