Default AA and a river decision

Villain is a LAG. For a while, when he had the table covered, he was raising every hand preflop and stealing most pots on the flop. I snapped him off a couple of times and my stack was pretty much a direct transfer from him to me where I got my money in preflop and he called twice as a big dog. Anyway, I think this river fold is pretty routine against a sane player, but I'm not so sure against a LAG.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed)

BB ($84)
Hero ($81.35)
UTG+1 ($24.47)
MP1 ($16.50)
MP2 ($23)
CO ($41.05)
Button ($19.83)
SB ($29.57)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
Hero raises to $2, 5 folds, SB calls $1, 1 fold,75,

Flop: ($4.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $5, SB calls $5.

Turn: ($14.50) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

River: ($14.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $22.57 (All-In), Hero folds.

Final Pot: $37.07

Outcome: SB wins $37.07.

I never make a weak raise with AA out of position. i fold the river for sure, but you could have stacked him on the flop with a bigger PFR, super-especially against a LAG.

1. gives odds to small pp to call and break you with a set.
2. allows implied odds hands in for cheap behind you
3. doesn't protect the preflop nuts, especially with bad position.
4. doesnt fold out hands down to those which you clearly dominate
5. doesnt allow the oppenent the terrible decision of fold/raise/push with a marginal hand (against such a raise) like QQ
6. doesnt allow you to build a pot large enoug to push the flop, the street where your hand is 2nd strongest.
7. doesnt allow you any chance to get all-in on preflop (which is the holy grail of AA plays) unless the other guy miraculously has the other AA or KK

many, many more reasons

You vary the size of your preflop open-raises?

almost always, i bring it in for 6xBB. that said, this instance dictates that you must raise more or it is statistically incorrect for someone to not call you and bust you. no problem letting them know you're strong esp at low limit in early position. you won't pull this move in a 10K cash game, but at a 50NL table, it works quite well, especially if you have the image of the table bully.

Wow ok in future I'll make a nice solid 20BB raise with my aces and a smaller raise when I hold a worse hand.

no need to be scarcastic
sadly, at these limits a 20BB raise would get called more than 50% of the time
and no, dont make a smaller raise UTG with a weaker hand; eaither raise hard with a strong hand or limp/fold. UTG is a very low-profit place in a hand, no matter what your holdings.

Are you serious? That is awesome, please show me where the games where 20BB bets are regularly called. Seriously I want to know, I could do with a new television.
