Hero has 17 500 and is in SB. BB is a small stack with about 5 000. Villain has about 50 000 and is on the button. Blinds 500/1000. Villain has been playing aggressively and been raising lots of pots. Folded to Villain who makes it 5 000 to go. Hero looks down at 99. Hero ?? Results will follow. |

Im not to happy about it but Im pushing it. his range of hands just seems too big to fold and calling cant be right out of position when its 30% of your stack.

I think pushing is a good idea.
Given his table image, he is probably holding 2 somewhat high cards, or even better a weak ace or even weak king. The size of his raise shows he probably doesn't want action. Although, he will be getting almost 2:1 (12500:24000) for his call so you might have to showdown. You are a favourite to all but the top 5 pairs, and his range is far larger than that. Coinflips are an unavoidable obstacle in tournaments, and you gotta win a few every now and then to win big. Yeah I push, and hold my breath. |

this is an extremely easy push. an aggressive button raiser is raising with any two cards here. you have a great hand and are shortstacked.. puuuush.
