Default David Oppenheimer

I've seen numerous posts around these forums about how he is likely the world's best limit hold 'em player, yet I've never seen him play, heard about him winning big tournaments, or read any stories about his career. I tried to search for a biography about him on google but couldn't find anything even half-way decent.

Can someone here fill me in on what makes him so special? Links are welcome. Thanks.

Probably because his name is "David Oppenhiem." Funny story about what an [censored] he is. He's playing 300/600 2-7TD with Men the Master on his right at Bellagio. The dealer deals each player five cards, except Men, who is on the button. Men says to the dealer "I need another card." The dealer doesnt realize hes on the button, and says "Sorry, misdeal" and spreads the deck on the table. The UTG player mucks his hand, along with an MP player. David Oppenhiem screams at the top of his lungs "What the [censored] are you doing!" Then Men gets into the act and David says, "just give him another card of the top of the deck!" The dealer says "Sorry, its a misdeal" since the other players mucked thier hands. Then Men and David show eachother their very playable hands and start moaning and groaning. I later saw him leaving the poker room while picking his nose. So he struck me as a pretty disgusting [censored].

Ahh, I see. I had just copied the incorrect name from another post I read.

Interesting stuff, but personal demeanor aside, why is he considered the LHE master by some? What are his accomplishments?

Im not sure what you mean by this. He's a LHE specialist, but plays black chip mixed games at Bellagio. Cash game pro's don't typically have any records or titles to win or anything like that. He's been to a WPT final table, but I doubt he plays tournements very seriously.

He also beat Daniel Negreanu in one of his Wynn Heads up Challenges for what was I believe $100,000. It may have been more. Negreanu was considered a heavy underdog in this match.

BTW, just some general thoughts.

The truly good poker players do not want you to know who they are. They play in high stake cash games and earn a good living by remaining anonymous.
