Scorpion BJ card counting computer on Court TV
Did anyone see "Takedown" last night on Court TV? They did a scam at a casino using a Scorpion computer taped to someone's leg and an earpiece. It basically kept track of where the Aces were in a 6 shoe deck and sent the information to an earpiece.
How in the hell does this work (keeping track of where the Aces are)? |

Re: Scorpion BJ card counting computer on Court TV
I dont think there is any possible way to keep track of where the aces are in the deck but you could keep track of how many are left in the shoe. Although I guess it could be possible if the dealer was a mechanic or was in on it in some other way but without insider help the only thing your could do is track how manu have been played and how many remain.
It should also be noted that any half minded person should be able to easily do this with out some computer strapped to their leg which now makes this perfectly legal count a federal felony. |

They were testing the security at the casino. But you're right, you can count aces without a computer.

Re: Scorpion BJ card counting computer on Court TV
They really dumbed down the show to appeal to the ignorant masses, but it looked like they were using the computer for shuffle tracking. They must have mapped out the casino's shuffle in advance.
I found it strange that they would input the value of every card if they were only interested in tracking the aces, so I suspect that the computer was actually using more than just the aces to identify good slugs. This doesn't explain why they were keeping track of the suits though, so there may be some other explanation. Or maybe the whole show was just BS... it's supposed to be entertainment, not a documentary. |

Re: Scorpion BJ card counting computer on Court TV
If they are inputing every card into the computer then this would be a very powerful system. In this case it isnt just tracking the aces or doing any kind of shuffle tracking it is keeping track of every card played and using that information to predict the probability of what the next card will be. Imagine you have a 17 and the dealer as a ten up, this would normally be a stand but the computer knows that there are 10 card left in the shoe that will make you a better hand without busting it can now use that info to decide wether it is +EV to hit or stay based on that.

I supplied the 'Takedown" show with the "Scorpion" device.
The device was loaded with a sequencing program. I will answer questions here:- http://www.survtech.com.au/discus |

[ QUOTE ]
He basically used some kind of computer shuffle tracking program and put the mapping of it inside the scorpion so basically the scorpion would know which slugs were rich in tens and aces and would thus tell him when to bet big. I have a shuffling program on my PC btw and you can track aces in casinos to a certain degree but you need a big bankroll and even then, casinos will think you are card counting or something and will probably eventually kick you out, anyway. They won't know why you are winning just that you are and they won't like it. [/ QUOTE ] umm, online casinos shuffle after every hand. counting cards or tracking shuffles is of no value. |

Re: Scorpion BJ card counting computer on Court TV
online casinos even shuffle during the hand as far as i know. There is not a set deck of cards at the start of every hand they just use a RNG to produce a random card when it is needed.
