NL us Fixed limit
I have played online poker now for about 2 months so I am new to online poker. I have read and I am reading some poker books TOP, SSH and SS so I got the concept in general under control. On some poker sites I have read that you actually should start out with fixed limit poker And then start to play NL when you start to understand the game better. I don’t know But for me NL is much better I like the way that you can bet proper amount of sums so People who are asking questions about your cards have to pay much more than in fixed limit. The other day I played some fixed limit at micro level 0.35/0.70. It was The crazy game of the crazy games. I use poker tracker so the wildest dude Played with 93% of his hands there where 3 other players who played with over 80% of their hands and then there was one player who played with 50% of his Hands and then me. Under that session I had A A in pre flop 3 times No matter how much I reraised or what ever at least 3 or 4 persons Came down to the river. Well this should be the paradise to play in But it always ended up that one of these players who plays "bingo poker" Ends up with something better on the river. Under that same session I had two KK and one QQ pre flop but same result I lost. By the Way this was a shorthanded 6 table. Maybe I was a bit unlucky but should I stay out of these kind of crazy Fixed limit games, any thoughts? |

Re: NL us Fixed limit
With 5-6 players on to the flop, made hands like AA and KK have a strong edge but will go through some big swings. Drawing hands like small pocket pairs, suited connecters, and suited Aces increase in value. Perhaps you should post some of your hands here to be reviewed. I am not assuming anything, but sometimes, people fail to protect their big hands.

ok, I could not find any converter for Crypto Network so i copied directly from Poker tracker censored the names a bit. It might be a bit hard to read maby. I am Hero and so on..... This was a typical bad beat. well here im only against one person but if you are against four crazy ones its easy that one gets lucky on the river.

Re: NL us Fixed limit
Not much you can do here. I would just call on the river though as most likely you are looking at 2 pair, a set or a straight. Since the 10 isn't an overcard, I don't think he would get to crazy by spiking second pair on the river.

Re: NL us Fixed limit
Here's the secret to playing limit poker: Fish never fold any ace, any pair, or any draw, regardless of pot odds. If you can beat that you're golden.

Re: NL us Fixed limit
How can somebody go on with a 7 and a 4 to the river. OK
i didnt play my best either i should maby have folded he could have made pair in K or what ever. But the question is how do you defend against this kind of players one of them should be ok to beat but if you have 4 players of this caliber at same table it can be sometimes hard and fustrating cause some of these "bingo poker" players might get bingo on river as this one did. It seems that its harder to play against many crazy players in one room than against average players. In NL you never encounter this problem they pay the price or get their hands folded by force. Seat 1: Cr ($22.70 in chips) Seat 2: Gr ($33.05 in chips) Seat 3: fi sits out Seat 4: Ge ($67.17 in chips) Seat 5: Bu ($4.80 in chips) Seat 6: Hero ($6.25 in chips) Bu: posts small blind $0.20 Hero: posts big blind $0.35 ----- HOLE CARDS ----- dealt to Hero [Js Jh] Cr: calls $0.35 Gr: folds Ge: calls $0.35 Bu: calls $0.15 Hero: raises $0.35 Cr: calls $0.35 Ge: calls $0.35 Bu: calls $0.35 ----- FLOP ----- [4d Ts 8h] Bu: bets $0.35 Hero: raises $0.70 Cr: folds Ge: calls $0.70 Bu: calls $0.35 ----- TURN ----- [4d Ts 8h][Kc] Bu: checks Hero: bets $0.70 Ge: calls $0.70 Bu: calls $0.70 ----- RIVER ----- [4d Ts 8h Kc][4s] Bu: checks Hero: checks Ge: bets $0.70 Bu: folds Hero: calls $0.70 ----- SHOW DOWN ----- Ge: shows [7d 4c] (Three of a kind, Fours, King high) Hero: mucks hand Ge collected $8 from Main pot ----- SUMMARY ----- Total pot $8.40 Main pot $8 Rake $0.40 Board [4d Ts 8h Kc 4s] Seat 1: Cr folded on the Flop Seat 2: Gr folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: Ge (button) showed [7d 4c] and won ($8) with Three of a kind, Fours, King high Seat 5: Bu (small blind) folded on the River Seat 6: Hero (big blind) mucked ****HAND ENDS**** |

Re: NL us Fixed limit
You played it well. I think some arguments could be made for a bet/fold on the river. This is just one of those hands that is going to happen in low limit hold 'em. What you have to remember is that for every time you lose a hand like this, you probably win 3 more to people calling you down incorrectly. They are making mistakes by calling you down with bottom pair and an under card kicker, but the mistake has to pay off sometimes

In low limit poker you will win less pots because of the fish sucking out like champs. But the pots you do win will be bigger than they would had you been against decent opponents, because of the fish putting in their money trying to hit "bingo". The size of the pots you win more then makes up for the majority of pots you lose as long as you can learn to handle the donks and not go tilting away after a few endlessly ugly suckouts. |

Re: NL us Fixed limit
Today I got sucked out twice in a row, once by running spades beating out my flopped two pair (A2) and the other my set of 10's was cracked by a straight on the river. It happens. Fking Turks.
I won the next pot big and promptly left. They were getting to me. Me: You don't understand odds Him: And yet I won ........ |
