2/4 Abs: A3s blind defense w/ bottom pair
Villain is loose preflop and could be stealing with a wide range. Postflop he's not great, but I've seen him lay down hands.
Did I take the right line here or should I just give up? I was going to bet any turn card. Hero has Ah3h in the BB Folded to Villain (Button) who open raises, SB folds, I call Flop: 8c 3c 6s I check, Villain bets, I raise, Villain calls Turn: Jd I bet, Villain calls. River:9d I check, Villain checks. Also, against what kind of player is this line useful (if ever)? |

value bet the river and it's a standard hand. what makes you think youre beat here

Re: 2/4 Abs: A3s blind defense w/ bottom pair
I think this line is prefectly fine, villain could be on a flush draw / overs and probably calls nothing that you beat.
You may get the odd call from AQ / AK but I doubt it. A lot of the time you are beaten by A6/K6 or some mediocre holding that loves you betting into him that will probably check behind on the river. If there were hands that beat you that would call a bet then betting is superior to checking. But with a flush draw and over draws out I think checking to induce a bluff is far better especially when there are hands your opponent beats you with that check this river behind you. True |

Re: 2/4 Abs: A3s blind defense w/ bottom pair
villain wouldve told u if he had an 8 or a j, and sometimes a 6 by now. the river is a blank. theres no reason to think he has a pair here. hands that open pf arent going to have draws on the flop very often. his most likely hand here is ace high that hes taking to showdown

Re: 2/4 Abs: A3s blind defense w/ bottom pair
I think I would prefer to bet out the flop.
1. I think it's more likely Villian will fold to a bet than a checkraise, and I'd like him to fold and take the pot as is with this vulnerable holding. 2. Getting an extra bet in on the flop makes it that much more correct for Villian to call a turn bet with whatever he might be drawing to. 3. If Villian is going to raise, I'd rather he do it after I put in one bet than after I put in two. |

Re: 2/4 Abs: A3s blind defense w/ bottom pair
Nice hand. I had a debate on a very similar hand on whether to check-call or bet-fold that river. I think that you'll get a crying call often here from A-hi, but at the same time if you check then villain may check through with hands that beat you.
