I know some of you will chide me about going in on 3rd with this hand. The table was very loose and extremely passive on 3rd. I call that good odds to limp with this hand.

My questions are these:
Seat 3 seems to like his hand, given how many spades are out am I right to call on 5th? Somehow he liked his 5 of spades, I doubt he had aces (these guys were passive but not dead on 3rd). He could very likely have the flush, but he's also in love with bluffing scary boards.

On 6th, I make my straight. anyone raise it here?

7th. Was I right to value bet? I didn't figure him for the type to check raise a flush or boat so I felt I was best.

At 1/2 high, with A: the size of the antes, and B: the weak/passive/loose players, limping with a hand like 789 with two of a suit if an acceptable play, imo.

The only thing about this hand that scares me is the three spades that ace is betting on fifth. he didn't raise third, and an ace is dead. if he had a smaller pair (assuming he's any good) he probably would've raised third. so what might he have? three high cards or flush potential is about all that's left for him to be playing, and it's unlkely that he just decided to take the lead when a... 5? hit him. so i'd have to put him on a flush draw, and when fifth hist him too, at the very least he's semi-bluffing a four flush.

There are situations when, even though you're pretty sure a player is semi-bluffing, it's time to lay down a big draw or the best hand at the momnent, and i think you're in one of those situations on fifth, definitly on sixth, even though his ace and spades are pretty dead. it just isn't worth it in a pot that's not huge to be in a situation where you're either slightly ahead or drawing totally dead. so 'fold fifth' would be my line... an opponent would have to be really aggro and tend to bluff way too often to get me to call here- so it's also a matter of your reads, i suppose.

***

once you get to the river it's a totally different situation- you've appearently caught him with his pants down. at this point i have him on aces and fives, and he's reaized that aggression alone isn't gonna win this pot, and he's hoping that you didn't draw out. he will call a bet with aces up almost no matter what, so value bet that mother, but be ready to seriously consider folding and saving a bet if he raises.

I like folding 5th as well.

I don't think the antes encourage you to call 3rd though. But the fact that the BI is low and you don't have to worry about being raised too much makes limping fine.

I think third and fourth are just fine. I fold fifth. Two of your cards are gone. The bettor could well have a flush, or he could hit one later. The pot isn't very big. I'd just ditch this one.

On sixth, well, you've made your hand, but the scary board just got scarier and he's still firing. I think calling is probably best.

On the river,l everything changes. The aggressor now checks. This probably means that he doesn't have a flush, and I'm guessing he's just relieved that he caught a second pair. You have a clear value bet.
