$2000 misclick
playing 5/10 NL on-line, folded to you in the blinds with JJ. you decide to just limp in and the bb checks.
the pot is now $19 after the rake. you and the bb are the big stacks at the table with over 2k each. flop AJJ. checkcheck. turn 5. checkcheck. river A. frustrated you decide to just push your entire 2k stack. and he calls instantly with...... 32o. Ooops! Obvious misclick and he cries and moans about it. Do you think you should offer to transfer him back the 2k since it is obvious it was an honest mistake? Does your answer change if a) he's a complete unknown. This is your first session with you. b) you've played a couple of sessions with you and have exhanged some casual conversation c) you're both long time regulars and "respect" each other d) your opponent is a girl e) your opponent is a loud mouthed obnoxious berate the fish table coach f) he didn't really "cry and moan" about it, but he mentioned it a couple times and shut up about it, but you *know* that its really bugging him. EDIT TO ADD: g) the guy has been running horribly lately and has gotten multiple bad beats h) sometime in your recent history you gave him a pretty bad beat for big bucks. |

Re: $2000 misclick
Sucks to be him. Maybe he'll learn to be more careful in the future.
In other words, I'm keeping the 2K. |

Re: $2000 misclick
None of the situations change anything, except for (e), in which case I'm not giving it back under any curcumstances.
In any other situation, it depends more on how much the 2k means to me, rather than on the other player. If 2k was a meaningless amount to me, I might consider giving it back. I've got an awfully long way to go before 2k is meaningless... |

Re: $2000 misclick
No way am I giving that money back. He made a very costly error in your favor. If you feel guilty about it give some to a charity. I wouldn't be playing those stakes with someone whose money I didn't want.

Re: $2000 misclick
Misclicking is no different from a bad beat.
Besides, I've invested a lot of money in misclick preventing technology (bigger monitor, etc.). He should've invested in his business just the same. |

Re: $2000 misclick
Misclick? Money back? Oh please.
You got paid $2000 for quads, good for you. That's it. |

Re: $2000 misclick
No way should you give this back.
Anyone who can't afford a misclick like that shouldn't be playing those stakes. Also, he should have open folded the flop to prevent this sort of crap from happening. |

Re: $2000 misclick
misclicking is an inherent risk of online poker. Any clemency fails to reinforce that fact.
I agree that some of it could be donated to charity; gamblers anonymous always seems like the +EV move. However, not all the $2k (you did flop quads after all ), and certainly no reimbursement. In live poker if you announce "call" it's a call even if your mind is elsewhere. Think of it like that, i guess. Why the question CDC - you made a bad misclick recently? Re: $2000 misclick
If he can't afford a $2000 loss, he should not be playing 5/10NL.
Take the same question and apply it to a $25 buy-in table, and a guy misclicks off $50. Still thinking of giving it back? If someone is playing beyond their means it is not anybody elses problem. |
