Default Pocket Tens capped preflop, Heads up to a 825 rainbow flop.

Paradise Poker $2/4

This hand occured towards the end of a brutal session. Am I on tilt here? I have played dozens of hands against villian here (MP2) and I have no notes on him. Which means, I haven't seen any mistakes thus far, yet not enough time with him to note him as "solid."

UTG folds, AC raises with T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], MP1 folds, MP2 reraises, 5 folds, AC caps, MP2 calls.

AC bets, Villian raises, AC calls.

Should I fold on the turn here? I am only beating AK at this point.

I think I'd probably 3-bet the flop and see what he does. If he caps, I'm likely check/folding the turn; if he just calls, I'm betting most any turn, though I'd probably check/fold if an A, K and possibly Q fell.

Ye olde "3bet to find out where I stood." Anyone have the appropriate link? I can't find it right now.

Hint: That's probably not a good plan.

It's not necessarily to find out where I'm at, but I guess 3-betting does accomplish that; it's because I may still have the best - but vulnerable - hand and I think it makes the hand easier to play on the big streets. Unless the villain is very aggressive, he's not likely to be capping missed overcards. If he simply calls the flop 3-bet, he'll quite likely fold to a blank turn; if he caps... well, he's either very aggressive or had a legitimate hand. Maybe I've been playing too much HU/SH play as of late.

I'd check-raise the flop, re-evaluate if 3-bet.

Overcards won't 3-bet a check-raise, unless you have a super read.

Fair enough. Calling down is a fine line, but I also don't think my line is that bad to mix in with a more passive line.

I've generally found that if I have to ask myself, "Am I on tilt," it's probably time to log off and have a beer. Even if I don't think this hand was played poorly, there might be some other errors creeping in that go unnoticed.

The reason why calling down is a bad line is because we're giving overcards cheap cards.

We could have the best hand, we need to push it on the flop. TT is a strong hand, but very vulnerable, because there's 16 cards in the deck that can hurt you.

The only hand that just outdrew you was AQ. Preflop you were already behind to JJ-AA, and a slight favorite to AJ-AK. So why did you cap, again?
