I've read this form a bit over the last couple of years and decided to start posting some. I think it will help.
Stars 10/20 UTG I am dealt Ad Jd. It's miniraised behind me by a fishy player. Five people see the flop. I have 2k and villain has me covered. Pot (200) Js Jc 9d. The blinds check and I bet 150 It's folded to the Cutoff who calls. (500) Turn Seems like a great card - 2d - I bet 320 and get called. (1140) River - 6s. Another nice looking card. I bet 620. Villain raises to 1320. It's another 700 to call. He left about 160 in his stack. These odds seem too good to fold now after I made the bet. But, the guy who just raised me is pretty weak tight. I'm putting him on probably jack nine but maybe Q 10. He had recently made a bluff - It was on the flop and I doubt he would have kept going if I had called (he showed it). I haven't seen him get out of line before for a lot of dollars. I'm not sure what he thinks of me as far as my table image. Suggestions on how to play this differently on any streets? I think I should have checked the river and called up to about 1/2 the pot. The only hands I see him betting on the river if I check are proably Q 10, J 9, 99, AJ and maybe KJ (not likely) |

He's weak tight but you think he's gonna minraise here in a monster pot w/ Q high? Or bet it if checked to?
I'm pretty sure I bet this river too. Maybe next time you may want to bet $800 or shove then you won't get cold feet. You will see some goofy stuff here and you definitely need to call the raise. |

As played, I'd certainly call this.
Does anyone like a check-call on the turn and a river lead here? I think that's how I'd play this hand. If he checks the turn behind and then raises you on the river, you then have a very easy call. If he bets the turn, you call and lead river, and THEN he raises you, there's now a pretty good chance you're beat. Just my 2 cents, it may not be ideal so I'd like to hear what some others have to say. Ryan |
