Default Going to Tunica 1st time (lc)

I will be driving to Tunica for the first time Nov 10-13.
Will be staying at the Goldstrike, as the Shoe appeared to be full per their website.

Getting the poker rate for Fri and Sat so I will be spending at least 6 hours each day at Goldstrike, but want to play at the Shoe for sure, as well as others ?
I'll be looking for 3/6 to 5/10 kill games.
I know there are alot of old posts about Tunica I can search through, but anyone want to add to that ? .....best games.....good eats.....other things to do ( I'm bringing the wife who only plays slots ).......changes since the huricane ......etc.

Thanks.

Tunica is near Memphis.
It is about 5-6 hours north of New Orleans.
The most damage they had was a few downed branches.
It was just a kinda windy thunderstorm up here.

In fact, there are many New Orleans evacuees who have been staying in Tunica and Memphis.
Not only are the Tunica casinos in business but they have been pretty busy lately.

Aside from the casinos there is nothing to do in Tunica.
Go eats:
Horseshoe buffet is the best. Sam's Town buffet is good also.
Gold Strike buffet is decent.
Horseshoe and Gold Strike steak-restaurants are both very good.
Horseshoe also has a N'Awlins style restaurant.

For other things to do in the area...you'll have to head up to Memphis to Beale Street and/or Peabody Place (the mall near beale Street).
About 35-40 minutes to the north.

I don't know of many kill games at those limits.
Maybe at Sam's Town?? Not sure on that.

The only kill games you'll find are a 5-10 Omaha H/L with a full kill at Horseshoe. It goes 4 or 5 times a week mostly on days and is quite a live game. Lately Gold Strike has gone in the toilet. They severely cut their comps and business went out the door with the comps. As a result Horseshoe has had between 10-16 games going just about every day. I know a few dealers at Gold Strike last week had a total of 6 hours for the WEEK!!! Horseshoe is the only game in town. Call Carol or Laura @ 800-303-7463 X-5760 about a room. Tell em Todd sent ya. When you get in town look me up. I deal durring the week and have the shift on the weekends.

atrium Cafe in the Gold Strike has a one pound prime rib special for like $8.95. Go see Todd, day shift at the Shoe, He will feed you.

I like Tunica. But, Harrah's buyout of Caesar's Entertainment and purchase of Horseshoe, was a "smoke and mirrors trick orchestrated with the help of the Mississippi gaming commission, in which Harrah's has landed the lion's share of Robinsonville poker action, not to mention action in general. Harrah's now has the Horseshoe and the Grand. Gold Strike may throw-in the towel. Harrah's is simply too expansive and it's bad for consumer choice. I suspect Gold Strike is permanently cut out of the tournament action they previously shared under old Horseshoe owners.

I played in a 3/6 or maybe it was a 4/8 Omaha Hi/Lo game with a kill. I don't think its anything they do regularly.

I didn't play long...waiting for my hold'em seat.

There is a nice little website at http://www.tunica-ms.com that tells lots of info about Tunica, they have a forum with trip reports and all kinds of stuff.
