Time/seat charges vs rake
Having only frequented casinos where they use the rake system, I was wondering if some posters here could enlighten me as to how a time or seat charge works, and what types of casinos employ them (large, small, indian, AC, etc). Is it just a flat rate? Or can someone request that instead of rake? Sorry for the generally noobish question, but I could not find it in the FAQs.

Re: Time/seat charges vs rake
For example: Foxwoods 1/2 NL
The Time Charge is $5 per 1/2 hour: Every time a new dealer comes, players put up a redbird which gets dropped once all seats have been collected from. If you are unfortunate to have shown up at the time it is collected, well, you owe $5 just for sitting down! You may not choose time or rake - it is one or the other and is usually listed on the placard for the table, otherwise ask the dealer or the floor. -ZEN |

[/ QUOTE ] $5/half in 1-2 NL is way too much, as the other poster alluded to. Time charge is usually used in 30/60 games and a lot of NL games, since in 30/60 games and up it's quite annoying for the dealer to have to constantly make change to drop the rake. One of the best NL games I have seen is the 5/5 NL500 game at Casino Niagara Fallsview, which takes $12/hour in time charge with no rake. Beautiful. |

Re: Time/seat charges vs rake
I had heard Foxwoods charges a rake and time charge, too. Is this true?

Re: Time/seat charges vs rake
The Games at Foxwoods have a rake or Time, one or the other, not both. I think all Limit games are rake and most/or all of the NL/PL games are time.
