How do I protect this?
Playing in a great 20/40 online game, as will be evident.
UTG limps, UTG+1 raises and 6 people call to me in the BB with red KK. I 3 bet, UTG+1 caps and we are off to the races with 8 people for 4 bets. Flop is 762 and 2 hearts. I led, hoping that UTG+1(capper) would raise and possibly clear some people out. 3 people cold called and I called. The turn was a 2, and I led again hoping to be raised and get the others out in this massive pot. This was the best way I could think of to protect my hand, as I was afraid that 3 betting the flop might scare him into just calling me on the turn, when I needed him to raise the others out. Is there a better line to protect my hand? P.S. If he raises me on the turn, can I 3 bet, or do I just call, given that he has raised me in every spot? |

[censored] protecting your hand, you can't. Just jam the hell out of it and win more than your share.

Re: How do I protect this?
the pot is way too big to think that anyone will fold for 2 bets on the flop... i check-raise the field on the flop for value... same w/ the turn...

Re: How do I protect this?
With 8 people in a capped pot, there's already enough in the pot pre-flop to justify calling 3 cold on the turn with a flush or OESD, even if nothing goes in on the flop. In theory, you could have check-called the flop and try to protect yourself from a gutshot on the turn, but that's about it. Why bother? Ram'n'jam, as others have said.
I'd 3-bet the turn and slow down on the river if UTG+1 caps. If he has AA, so be it. |

[ QUOTE ]
P.S. If he raises me on the turn, can I 3 bet, or do I just call, given that he has raised me in every spot? [/ QUOTE ] You always should 3 bet him. An aggressive, even just a slightly aggressive player will have capped preflop with QQ and JJ because of the great pot odds of hitting his set. Likewise, on a 7-high flop, QQ pretty much has to raise with all those draws out there. I think you've got to 3 bet this against all but the tightest of players. |
