When pot odds go wrong (PLO8)
Just one for discussion.
I had decided to post this whatever the outcome. Stars $11 PLO8 SNG Both players have only shown goodish hands to this point, but the other short stack is fearless (willing to draw correctly for Chip EV) and has been the only action since we were five handed about three weeks ago (or so it felt, probably 25 minutes) As usual, I'm dealt an appalling hand *********** # 3 ************** PokerStars Game #811873950: Tournament #3203713, Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit - Level VII (150/300) - 2004/10/30 - 04:05:41 (ET) Table '3203713 1' Seat #8 is the button Seat 1: lorinda (372 in chips) Seat 8: nulland (1242 in chips) Seat 9: ruckbucket17 (11886 in chips) ruckbucket17: posts small blind 150 lorinda: posts big blind 300 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to lorinda [Ts 9d 9h 5h] nulland: calls 300 ruckbucket17: raises 300 to 600 lorinda: folds nulland: calls 300 *** FLOP *** [2h Td 3c] ruckbucket17: bets 1500 nulland: calls 642 and is all-in *** TURN *** [2h Td 3c] [Ah] *** RIVER *** [2h Td 3c Ah] [8s] *** SHOW DOWN *** ruckbucket17: shows [6d 5c 4c 5d] (HI: a straight, Ace to Five; LO: 5,4,3,2,A) nulland: shows [2c Jd 4d Jh] (HI: a pair of Jacks; LO: 8,4,3,2,A) ruckbucket17 collected 1392 from pot ruckbucket17 collected 1392 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 2784 | Rake 0 Board [2h Td 3c Ah 8s] Seat 1: lorinda (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 8: nulland (button) showed [2c Jd 4d Jh] and lost with HI: a pair of Jacks; LO: 8,4,3,2,A Seat 9: ruckbucket17 (small blind) showed [6d 5c 4c 5d] and won (2784) with HI: a straight, Ace to Five; LO: 5,4,3,2,A Lori |

Surely, unles you get something ridiculous like 2222, you have to call preflop with anything?

Re: When pot odds go wrong (PLO8)
You gotta play that, you cant really rely on the other shortstack to jump to his death to put you into second.

Re: When pot odds go wrong (PLO8)
My O8 game is pretty minimal but I think a fold might well be the correct play.
To paraphrase Mr. Sklansky, "you gotta do the math on this one ladies and gents." Unfortunately it is outside the scope of my ability, but my gut says folding has higher ev. |

So Lori, whats the deal here? Let me say that I think your fold was incorrect, prove otherwise...
