Default Just had my first taste of gambling addiction......

Poker isn't a problem. But I decided that my recent upswing needed to be capped by my friends and I crowding around my computer as I played a $10 hand of blackjack. Holy [censored]! I won! I kept playing for a bit, and was doing ok. When I eventually went bust (and my friends left) I sat there for about 1 minute considering redepositing.

It was really hard not to. I mean REALLY hard. I mean, I had voices in my head giving me justifications that I would have scoffed at 20 minutes ago. Jesus that is a scary thought. I always thought I was above the degenerate gamblers my dad told me I was, but for a second there.....

I just did the same thing clearing a casino bonus the other day, cost me a fortune......so I'm taking a break from everything for a while to clear my head and make sure no problems come of it. That might be the best thing to do if you start to get worried, take a break

I used to love playing blackjack. Then I decided that I was too smart to play a game where you will lose in the long run. Hence, I learned to play poker, a game that can be beat.

My desire to play any games against the house is completely gone.

But I could certainly see the temptation if you were a losing/break even poker player. Perhaps this is reason enough to learn poker well...

But I think it is dangerous to think you are above it if you are a winning player. Playing poker doesn't have the house involved, sure. I have no problem beating that (at least at my level.) But the allure of fast easy money was tough to overcome. I was also influenced by an especially generous view of the other side of variance that night.

Apparently I didn't learn anything. My roomate gave me a buck and told me to put a dollar on black 29 on the roulette table. I got 50 % of whatever we won (if anything). I told him to give me like 5 bucks and we could do some better gambles (black, odd, etc.) but he insisted. Well, it pays 35 to 1.....and it hit. Easiest 17 bucks I ever made. THis is really dangerous crap.

not quite addiction.

gambling for fun is not a crime, just as long as you know it's for fun and you are spending the money for a chance and a thrill and the outcome isn't important.

When you start to believe that you can come out on top if you keep playing you should consider getting help or quitting.
