Default Commerce 20/40 vs. 40/80

I'm not really planning on moving up to 40/80 before the end of the year, but I'd still like to get some sort of idea from the half a dozen or so Commerce regulars (mike l., etc.).

How much different is the 20/40 vs. the 40/80 at Commerce? I've noticed that a lot of 20-players also play the 40-game. The crossover niche seems to be filled with mostly decent players and a smattering of mediocre to terrible players. But there seems to be a large group of regulars who only play the 40. Are these guys noticeably better than the regulars at the 20? Are they more plentiful than the regulars at the 20? Is table selection more important at the 40 than the 20?

I play the late shift (8 PM - 6 AM), btw.

Thanks in advance,
Box

I actually live in Seattle, though I have played a fair bit of both the Commerce 20 and Commerce 40 game. Game selection, does seem much more important in the 40. I sat in a 40 game that was fairly tough, and I sat in a 40 game one time that had eight to every flop, and was softer than most 3/6 games I have played.

On the other hand, I have never sat in a bad 20 game at the Commerce, in fact I have never sat in a 20 game with more than two other decent players.

ifyou want the simple rundown, i think that in the 20 game you don't need tabe selection, but in the 40 you do.

what i'm trying to say is that the 20 games are always bad, but the 40 has a lot of good players

when you play the late shift though, just go on a friday your first trip and you should be fine.

the game is basiclaly the same, except you get less players to the flop.

everything i've said here is meaningless, i don't think there is much a difference at all. the 40 game is easy.

The traditional differences were that there was much more limping pre-flop in the 20 game, the pots would be 3-bet more pre-flop in the 40, and the players were much more aggressive in the 40, especially on the turn, where check-raising was much more common. While I don't play the night shift, and I've played only rarely in the 20 of late, it seems to me these difference have been minimized somewhat. The 40 is still a more aggressive game, but not by as much as it had been.
