That depends on what you are trying to determine. Want to know your VP$IP or PFR? 5-10k hands should be good. Want to know your winrate? Well, if you want accuracy, it takes well over 100k hands. For a general idea, 30-40k hands should be good.

If you're willing to settle for 40k hands to determine winrate, there's no way you'd ever need 10k hands to determine VP$IP. In 1k hands, you'll have a very, very good idea of VP$IP. You won't be able to differentiate between 16.6% and 16.7%, but you'll know for sure whether they're tight or loose. -Sam |
