Default Be Your Own Affiliate?

In the process of searching for the best Empire rake deal I was informed by a seemingly respectable site that I should become an affiliate with Empire and sign up an account using my own code. Apparently this is a common practice and - although not completely legit - Empire does not follow through on investigating such activity (according to the rep I spoke to he personally spoke with someone with Empire claiming it was fine). So I'm curious, is it worth trying? I plan on playing massive amounts of hands through Empire and would certainly prefer to get the full 25% rake return. But I would hate to lose out completely by getting my account revoked. Also, is Empire the optimal site for mid-to-high limit multitabling? I have an account at Party without a rake deal - so I need to find a similar site with decent rake offers.

Thanks-
Michael.

Be careful, this can be a lot more risky than a standard rakeback deal. They will very easily be able to see that you is you, making money off your own play. And they don't have much of a reason not to boot you if they figure it out.

The fine people at pokernow don't care. They told (not)me that it's fine. I'm not undermyself because unfortunately I signed up under a different affiliate first.

I highly recommend reviewing the entire affiliate agreement at Empire Poker. My last reading of that agreement led me to believe that rather than "not completely legit," it is more correctly a direct violation of their terms and conditions.

While I am sure that there are people violating those T&Cs and not being caught, I would advise against it. No matter what a second-hand source may have said.

Is it worth the risk of you losing your affiliate account (and any money there) as well as your player account (and any money there?) I have no idea if this would happen, but what would be your recourse if it was?

Why not find an affiliate who will give you 20+% and feel more sure of your situation?

Not harshin' on you, but my $.02 on the matter.
