Common situation with AK.
You have a tight image at the table. There is reasonable aggression from your opponents but in general they play way too loose.
You have AK in the BB in a 100BB max buy-in game. 6 limpers to you. You raise it 7-10xBB and get two callers whos stacks are about the same as yours for 100BB. Flop K84-rainbow. What is your preferred line? Why? - Jim |

Re: Common situation with AK.
that flop is pretty safe. so checking is an option. but do u think there r ppl in the hand that might try and "steal" the pot from u (betting when u check). i can only see u beating someone that either bets with nothing or KQ. where the calls loose to raises too? or just lost of limping?

Re: Common situation with AK.
If the game is loose aggressive then checking isn't bad because if one guy raises and the other calls, then you can reraise getting the extra bet in. I would probably raise anyway, but I am always trying to win pots early as possible.I hate getting outdrawn!

Re: Common situation with AK.
I usually lead here since it looks way too suspicious if you raised pre-flop and then just check the flop. To mix up my play, I might occasionally check this flop (though mixing up play doesn't derive much benefit in online small-stakes games since the players either rotate too frequently or are otherwise not paying much attention).

Bet, bet, check/call. Or bet, bet, bet. Or bet, check/call, bet. Or bet, check/call, check/call.
Checking this flop can't be right. |
