Default a rare 2nd barrel

i figured the A would be a pretty good scare card, and unlikely to hit the villain.

Definitely.

He calls the flop with his 87/66/whatever thinking you're probably just making a continuation bet with AK/AQ but you *might* have an overpair. Oops! After that turn, he's losing either way so he quickly folds.

OTOH if he does come over the top, he is beating 44 something like 99% of the time so it's an easy muck.

This is a good play in general, but it's an excellent play when you're getting 9 for 5 on a scare card bet that pc's the opponent.

Very nice.

yeah, i will always bet the turn in that situation when the flop is small cards and an ace or king comes on the turn.

I'm also thinking about the first barrel here. I realize that continuation bets are a standard part of the game (as they should be), but out of position with a ragged flop is there another way to play it?

I ask because if I'm the villain, I'm probably putting you you on overcards that missed. With a decent sized pot compared to my stack, if I have any kind of hand (77, 99-TT, or even a nice str8 draw), I'm coming over the top here.

Anyone else like a check-raise to represent the overpair? A free card could be bad, but might be worth the risk.

Sam

Cards that pair the board.

I wouldn't autobet every time the board pairs, but that is a good bluffing opportunity.

Also...cards that make a 4-straight (e.g. 7 or 6 in the posted hand).

Later,
Che
