Canterbury 30/60. I've been playing very aggressively and people have noticed. Made some very aggressive 'light' 3 bets with hands like j9s etc. Deep into the session. I haven't gotten out of line post-flop though (and actually not all that out of line pre-flop but I don't think all players understand the difference though, esp the villain.)
Villain is a 27 yo construction worker who is in way over his head. Doesn't have the money to play and told asked me earlier if I knew anyone that was lookin for a car cause he wanted to sell his cause he needed the money for a second kid on the way. He's stuck maybe 2000 when this hand came up and has like 800 in front of him. He's played semi-tight passive. Every time he's opened he's had a premium hand. He limps about as much as the average cb 30/60 player, which is a decent amount. About 20 minutes ago he said to me when I check/folded a flop HU with him "cmon how come you didn't raise me" and I showed him my cards and said "cause I have nothing..." He opens in middle, cold-called in 2 spots that are unnimportant, I call in the 2/3 chip sb with KJs, bb folds. Flop K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], he bets, all fold to me who c/r. Turn is an A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet, he gets all nervous and raises (not in the false tell sense either. The kid (he looks like he's 20) is shaking real bad and nervously.) I call. River J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Now what. |

FWIW my read of this opponent is quite a bit different than BK's with regards to both pre and postflop.

edit - only difference now is you beat KQ as far as the river goes... |

bet/call. his nervousness/shakiness may be more about the $$$ than the fact that he is holding a monster.

hi this one's easy bet and call a raise. if he's got AQ or even KQ he's going to chicken out and check the river too many times. so you got to get a bet in there. if he raises you on the river you can only call because he will have you beat most of the time, just enough for you to crying call.

Seems like you could bet quickly and then decide whether to call a raise or not by watching how he reacts.
This would be better than check/calling because I think you would usually get to fold if he raised you unless he did it strangely. And since you definitely want 1 bet to go in on this river (no more, no less), it is best to put it in yourself. |

Could you safely fold to a raise on the river against this opponent?
