Default Ugh Dell 2001fp technical question

Got the monitor this morning and set it up, seemed ok but after I set the resolution to max I also changed a setting on the settings tab. I think I changed the display scroll box to the '2.' option instead, and then clicked use the device as default monitor. After I did this everything I open goes to imaginary space - presumably where it thinks I have a second monitor. I reckon if I changed the options back it would go back to how it was but I can't get to anything because its all off the side of the screen - the bars are still on the tasbar though..

I'd really appreciate any help here, thanks.

Plug the monitor into the other port (the one you had labeled as 1). Change the settings, then change it back to how you want it

You can try to change the display settings "in the dark" using the keyboard. It sounds like you may have made the secondary monitor into the primary.

Right click on the desktop and choose properties. The display properties window will open (off the screen).

Hit shift-tab, then right arrow 4 times. This will get you to the settings tab. Tab twice, hit the down arrow, tab 4 times, hit the spacebar, then hit enter.

If you have access to another computer you can follow along on that one to see what happens.

Bad picture quality on an LCD almost always means it is set to a "non-native" resolution. The fix is to set it to whatever is the native resolution. CRT monitors are very flexible with scaling up and down, LCDs are not. I use a CRT at home because I can set it to 1600x1200 for poker play, then back it down to 1280x1024 for web surfing, writing, etc. At the office I prefer an LCD for better size and crisper picture.

Make sure it's running at native 1600x1200 resolution

Mine is currently running 1280 and it looks FABULOUS. If yours doesn't, it's not because of the resolution.

There are specific drivers for the monitor (this is the first *monitor* I've owned that had its own drivers). Make sure they are installed properly as well. More info here:

I'm looking at buying this monitor too. Just wondering if you got it straight from Dell, or you were able to get a discount somewhere else? Looking at their site it is almost $900. Thanks.
