Interesting 1000 PL Turn decision.....what is your play?
Hero is BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and $2141
Folded to loose button who limps ($801.25), SB completes ($1234), Hero raises 30, Button calls, SB calls. 3 to flop Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks, Hero bets pot of 117, button calls, SB calls. Turn K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB checks, Hero .....????? Is checking way too weak tight? If bet, how much? Theres no way you are folding to raise in this spot...who bets pot? who bets half the pot? |

Re: Interesting 1000 PL Turn decision.....what is your play?
why arent you raising more preflop?
with the button left behind you this is a really tough spot imo. seems like someone could easily have a flush here. maybe call a small to medium turn bet and try to fill up, youll have huge implied odds i would think. you dont want to get raised here, so dont let them put you on top set. |

i have been going back and forth w this turn play and I would lean towards checking, as I would hate getting raised huge.

Re: Interesting 1000 PL Turn decision.....what is your play?
i like to check behind here most of the time.
the last thing you want to have happen here is to pot it, get called by the button, only to have the sb re-pot it on both of you for a substantial amount, when you had a chance to fill up cheaply if he hit a diamond. the sb must like his hand enough on the flop to check, then overcall after the button calls your bet. if he is solid this could be anything from a smaller set looking to trap on a non-diamond turn, to a monster draw that is looking to hit instead of the typical agressive flop check-raise. regardless, like kagame said that i strongly agree with: "don't let them put you on top set." granted it always sucks to take this line and see a fourth diamond fall on the river, but i think the risk is worth it. you are not likely to get heavy action on this turn by a non-flush hand. many cards can hit the river that can result in you stacking someone off, i.e. a board pairing diamond and someone having the A of diamonds. or a board pairing offsuit card and someone having the flush on the turn. or the loose button could hit trips with whatever pair he may have picked up. there is nothing wrong with being put into a situation with top set and not being able to be happy with getting all of your chips in the middle. |

Re: Interesting 1000 PL Turn decision.....what is your play?
sorry keep forgetting people are posting PL hands, i dont even notice the preflop pot size once i start thinking about the hand.
ive actually played some PL on party and thats really what i like least about the game. ill go pot pre, pot flop, with an overpair, and get turned by a smaller pair hitting a set or something heinous like that. so i dont play too much PL anymore. |
