Default Pot odds or equity?

Hi, this is my first post and I am pretty new to Poker.
I've read SSH and ITH and I understand the concepts how to calculate pot and implied odds etc...but I don't know whether to make my post flop decision based on my outs or on the pot equity. When exactly do you use the pot equity?

Thank you all in advance

You should bet / raise if you have the pot equity advantage. Pot odds, at least what I use them for, is drawing hands.
