Default how do you explain this chip reece play on PSI

blinds 2000 - 4000 tj raises to approx 12000 doyle flat calls
gus flat calls. chip pushes in for 56K more with KQ suited. tj mucks 10s doyle calls with AA and gus folds 88. i know he is considered one of the best players in the game but how can he possibly think that he either has the best hand or is going to get all 3 to fold when the pot is going to lay decent odds.
any explanation or just a bad play?

I didn't see the play you're talking about, but my guess is:
He did not think anyone had aces, so he thought he could represent them with a huge reraise and get everyone to fold hands like TT. The fact that 3 other people were already in the hand makes his reraise look more credible and less likely to be a steal.

Well, he got TJ to fold which was really the key. Problem is Doyle had AA.

I don't know if he expected to actually get them all to fold or not, certainly he can't expect Gus to fold much if TJ and Doyle fold. I think he though he could get a couple folds and then give himself a chance to nearly triple up his short stack with a hand that he thought was likely in pretty good shape against what the others could have.

i guess your right. is possible he thought doyle and gus both had small pairs if he assumed they would reraise hands such as aq ak.

how about, he was short stacked and was getting
a good multiple on his money? The pot odds were
probably not bad.

He was hoping everyone would fold. It would be hard to call without a big hand. If he got called, he is almost certainly the underdog, but he may be ahead due to pot odds with the dead money in the pot. He is only in trouble versus AA, KK, QQ, AK, and AQ. He was hoping no one had aces.

Obviously Brunson's play of "second hand low" worked to perfection here.

I love watching Doyle play. He actually played that AA just like he writes it in SS. Limp in, and hope for a raise and if you get it, PUSH EM!

I myself have used that play with AA or KK so many times in live no limit games that its sick. Its great to see 5 limpers all drop their heads when the raise happens, then a giant over the top raise from me.

Awesome play Doyle!!!

gus definitely did not reraise. i think this was one of the worst plays on television ever but people wont say that because its chip reece. best possible scenario is a 50 50 shot
