Callin getting 3:1 with any pair?
The opponent in this hand seems to be an all-around solid player. Good PF selection of hands, knows how to steal, and good postflop play. All in all a worthy opponent for my very modest skillz.
This is a Stars 10+1, early goings. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) converter MP1 (t2959) MP2 (t1415) Hero (t1015) CO (t1361) Button (t1477) SB (t2825) BB (t1245) UTG (t1458) UTG+1 (t3755) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls t30, 1 fold, Hero raises to t150, 2 folds, SB raises to t600, 1 fold, MP1 folds, Hero ... ? I am positive that the opponent is deliberately putting me in a push-or-fold situation. Even still, getting 3:1 this is a good gamble for me with any pocket pair let alone jacks, even if I think the opponent will do this only with AA, KK or AKs. Right? So I push here? |

Re: Callin getting 3:1 with any pair?
How are you getting 3-1? If you go allin, you are betting 865 to win 1240. That is less than 3-2.
This may be could enough odds with JJ though. I don't like the raise to 600. A lot of people just push with AK or AQ. |

Damn have to say somthing
No i dont think so beacuse if your odds is 3:1 and that is the only hand he would do it whit. Lets se AA,KK is 12 diffrent hands and Aks is 4 diffrent suits. So 16 hands, And you will win 2 times when he have Aks, And like 2,5 time when he has AA,KK. So you win like 4,5 times and loose 11,5 times. Haha So like 2,5:1 you need atleast to call so guess you are right. |

Where does this 3-1 come from? I don't see how it is 3-1.

Where does this 3-1 come from? I don't see how it is 3-1. [/ QUOTE ] That's what I figured (at the table) I was getting on a call of the opponent's 600. Blinds = 45, limper = 30, I raise to 150, opponent rasies to 600. Bet is 450 to me, there's 815 in the pot. I rounded 450:815 to -- oops! -- 3:1. Should have been 2:1. Wow, I suck at NL. Ok so if the opponent has AA-QQ, AKo or AKs then I'd be right to call the 2:1? And since calling the 2:1 will leave me with 400, I'd be better off pushing? Aside from my egregious math error (I must work on this), how is my reasoning? |

2-1 to call the raise, but you really have to look at it as 1.45-1 with all your money in.

[/ QUOTE ] So if 1.45:1 are not good odds for me (let's assume they aren't for the sake of argument), then I should fold? As I type this it seems obvious, but I'd still like confirmation. I'd like to hear anything else anyone has to say, too. |
