Default Chicago/East Chicago Poker

Hey all,

I have to goto Chicago for two weeks for work and while I'm there I want suggestions on either playing at the old Harrah's location or Trump casino (both in Gary Indiana aka East Chicago).

I used to live in Illinois but haven't been to those casinos since the poker boom about 2 years ago so I'm wondering if the rooms have changed.

Can someone review normal limits as well as No limit games that are spread there.

thanks,

surf

Resorts East Chicago has the best 5/10 10/20 20/40 games. Trump's no limit 200 max games are good. There is information on all Chicago cardrooms at the Chicago Card Club Website www.cardclubs.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=1 7 Good Luck

East Chicago is the name of the City. It is not called that just cuz it's East of Chicago. It borders Gary.

Resorts is a much nicer poker room but can be crowded. Trump's poker room seems much older. It has all the ambience of the observation area on a sighteeing tour boat (the way the windows and doors are situated makes me think of this). I played $3/6 there and it was your basic, loose, inexperienced game as always in live limit HE.

One thing about those chips. If they don't kill you, they make you stronger.

I find the Resorts room to be very claustrophobic. It used to be my main room but I prefer the space at Trump.

I have sentimental value to trumps, the first time I ever played live was a 5/5 NL game with a $14/hr time charge (no max buy in). I bought in for $250 and left 6 hours later with $1400. Anyone know if this game still exists.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

last i played there (trump) was early this summer; they ran a 2-5 NL game 200 max buyin with a $14 an hour time rake. It was an awful game logistics wise (low buyin, huge timed rake) but the awful play made it a pretty easy game to be profitable in.

so I guess they got rid of their 5/5 NL no max game...too bad

I'll probably wind up playing the 5/10 NL @ the resorts or just some 6/12 @ trumps, for some reason I really liked trumps, smaller but seemed friendly.
