Re: Ak whiffed
Raised enough to get one caller, continuation bet on the miss and fold to the raise. Textbook.

Re: Ak whiffed
I assumed it was standard. Didn't want to cost myself money on a play I assumed was standard, since this situation comes up a lot.

Re: Ak whiffed
I'm not going to argue with the C-Betting crew too much, but betting this flop opens you up to a semi-bluff raise from the FD, and can have you laying down the best hand as a result.
I'd check the flop. I check lots of flops with a whiffed AK. It's great fun. I showed down a whiffed AK against a whiffed AQ last night. Good times. |

All I know is that MANY a time, my line looked like this:

Re: Ak whiffed
And in that case, Villain probably had AT.
One of these days I'm going to write a huge post on why c-betting (while great against weak ABC players) is generally a pretty bad idea against loose calling stations. |

Re: Ak whiffed
I usually like to check here as well, and call a smallish bet (maybe 1/3 of the pot). Is this goot? You have two overcards on a raggy flop and a backdoor. Any other bigger bet from villain = me fold

Re: Ak whiffed
My experience is that raise-check is a huge sign of weakness that screams, "Please bet now and I will fold like a paper napkin."
