Reby VS Freezeout... which is better for a good player
hi there
I got into an argument today regarding which of the MTT's suits a professional/good player more. My thinking was a rebuy suits a good player more becoz the relative stacks are going to be deeper vs the blinds, and this gives the good players a definite advantage. if anyone could extrapolate or give their opinion, that would be great thanks a lot F |

Re: Reby VS Freezeout... which is better for a good player
Rebuy (first hour) favors a player who is willing/financially able to gamble and repeatedly rebuy. Once the rebuy period ends, the average stack/bb is much deeper than a normal MTT (I'm most familiar with pokerstars, so I'm using them for mental models).
If a skilled player can afford the multiple rebuy-risk, I would say the rebuy offers that advantage. Also, a weaker player will be able to play longer (those that would call all in with weak aces and low pairs being weak) can be an advantage - the good player has many more opps. to take advantage of the weak player and get their chips. Those are reasons offhand why the rebuy would favor the skilled player. |

I second what spidurman says. Players are awfully underfunded in rebuy tournaments. Usually, in the rebuy tournaments I play in, a quarter of the field does not survive the first hour. Think of all that dead money.

I like rebuys because so many really bad players can build big stacks in the rebuy period which you can take away later. I am willing to rebuy as often as necessary, but I usually only rebuy once at the beginning and take the addon.
