QJo in the SB.
Final 2 tables of a $1 buyin satellite. Don't laugh too hard.
106 started, 15 left. Top 3 get to move to the bigger tourney. There are insignificant cash prizes for 4th - 6th. We are 7 handed. Blinds are 150/300 I (4600) have Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the SB Villain (2200) calls UTG. Button (9300) calls. I complete. BB (covers all) checks. Flop is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet 1000. BB folds. Villain goes all-in (1900). Button calls (this doesn't worry me that much, he's fishy). I call. Turn is K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I push (2400). Did I play this OK? I'm mostly a cash game player so I just wanted to make sure. Ryan |

Re: QJo in the SB.
I think when you complete this in the SB, you are looking for something better than TPGK. You are out of position with a hand that might be the best hand, but it's weak. I would check this and see how the action comes back to me before deciding what to do. If the action came back to me in such a way that I was convinced that I had the best hand, I would push. Your hand is probably not going to get any better, and you would like your opponents to fold. So if a short-stacked villian pushed this and everybody else folded, I would probably call. But if a short-stacked villian pushed and got a call from a larger stack, then I would probably fold.

Re: QJo in the SB.
If the button just calls and you think he is fishy. You probably have the best hand and you should push here.

I pushed.
Button folded. Unfortunately the other guy had KJ and he took it down. Ryan |
