Who came second in the 1971 WSOP?
I'm doing a little research for an article on Johnny Moss and wanted to find out who he beat in '71. As I left my copy of All In at work, I did a few Google searches and nothing came up (well, I should say there are hundreds of sites that can tell you Moss won, but there isn't much record of the event otherwise), so I'm hoping I can find an answer here. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide 2+2,

Didn't they elect winners in 1971?

nope, that was '70. '71 was 6 players at 5K each.

Re: Who came second in the 1971 WSOP?
It was either Puggy Pearson, Amarillo Slim, Sailor Roberts, Doyle Brunson, Crandall Addington, or Carl Cannon but I'm not sure which.

Thank you sir. To save the rest of you the reading, it was Pug Pearson.

For those who don't know...All In is a new book about the history of the WSOP.
I paged through it at a Barnes and Noble the other day and it looks to be very interesting. I'm sure I'll get around to purchasing it sooner or later. Anyone with any interest in the WSOP would probably get some enjoyment out of it I would guess. |

Re: Who came second in the 1971 WSOP?
That site is kind of interesting...
i don't know too much WSOP history. I knew that Sexton had one bracelet (I think 7-card stud in 1989 or something) but I had no idea he had that many high finishes in the main-event. Actually have more respect for the guy after seeing this: 24th in 91 23rd in 92 24th in 93 23rd in 95 12th in 00 29th in 01 Also i didn't know: David Sklansky, 42nd in 2002 27th in 1988 |
