Re: setting up texas hold\'em nite at home .. how many players?
Number of players depend on a few things:
1. Amount of time alotted for the tournament (be sure to incorprate the blind structure as well) 2. Amount of space you have at home. Obviously if all you have is 1 table and 9 chairs, your options are pretty limited. 3. How many chips do you want to start with. If you do not have enough, you ave a problem that can easily be fixed but still needs to be fixed. As for early knockouts, if you do not want a rebuy tourny, tough crap for them. They can get a side game going when others get knocked out or can go play online in the mean time. If you do have a rebuy tourny, make sure you figure out how much time you will need and amount of chips that will be necessary. Good luck |

Re: setting up texas hold\'em nite at home .. how many players?
Cheers .. I have 10 in at 50 each so 500 makes a nice pot. Cards ain't gona be a limiting factor in TH and I have 2 sets of chips so chairs is one of the main factors. I'll work out later what way to make the blinds so it lasts ~ 3 hrs ..

Re: setting up texas hold\'em nite at home .. how many players?
This site has some good info on running a poker tournament. They have info on blind structures and on timing as well (if you need it to be over by a certain time.) We rarely have enough people when my friends and I get together, but with 10 people, you could start a side game after 3 or 4 people bust. Just make sure they play with cash or with different chips though. You don't want to get chips from one game introduced into the other game.
