Quick question regarding percentages
Ok I have project and need to know how to do the math on this: (posted in OOT for fast answer)
If revenue for company X rose 37.5% in 2000 to 210 million what was the revenue in 1999, and how do you come up with this number? |

eh, I think this is (x + .375x) = 210MM

X = 210/1.375 |

Revenue rises 37.5% means revenue is multiplied by 1.375. So, to find the original revenue, divide 210 million by 1.375.

The way I learned to do these types of problems is make two equal fractions:
100 137.5 --- = --- X 210,000,000 Where 'X' is 1999's revenue. Then you simply cross multiply: 210,000,000 * 100 = 21,000,000,000 137.5X = 21,000,000,000 21,000,000,000/137.5 your answer is 1999's revenue was $152,727,272 Hope that helps PG |
