Sample size to determine player styles
How many hands do you need to get a good, reliable read on a players tightness/looseness? I have been averaging, using PokerAce, the previous 30 hands to get a feel on how a person in playing. Is that sample size large enough? Can I reduce it to say 20 hands and get a good idea of a persons' tightness?
Thanks, Mack |

Re: Sample size to determine player styles
Way too few -- I don't give much credence to stats until I have at least 100 hands on a player, and even then I'll only look at his VPIP and PFR, since those two tend to converge quickly.
I've played stretches of 1,000 hands with a VPIP of 28 - 30 or 10 - 14, even though i avg around 22, so careful. |
