Where\'s my mistake at the 22s?
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com
Hero (t2405) SB (t1030) BB (t1060) UTG (t2735) MP (t770) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds Hero raises to t450. SB raises to 1030 and is all-in. BB folds. Hero... SB is definitely solid and definitely understands bubble play. He and BB have been tight callers. I don't think my raise was loose. SnG Power Tools seems to agree with me. I'm getting terrific odds on a call after his push--he pretty much has to have a big pair or a better ace than me for a fold to be right. But if I fold, I've still got a strong stack and some good table muscle (the big stack was being very quiet). What's my plan here? |

Re: Where\'s my mistake at the 22s?
In this situation, 5 handed in the 22s, I would have to assume I am up against a pair or an Ace-Something (AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22, AK, AQ, AJ, AT, A9, A8, A7, A5, A4, or A3) and fold the A6 with no hesitation. Have a nice day!

Either push this or fold, you should never be in this situation.

Add on: BTW, I agree with your original raise...but sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on to the next hand.

Re: Where\'s my mistake at the 22s?
IMO this decision could have been avoided. Looks like SB realized he might have some fold equity with a re-raise, and pushed. With both the SB and BB stacks around T1000, I would have just moved all in preflop and put them to the test.

[ QUOTE ]
Either push this or fold, you should never be in this situation. [/ QUOTE ] agreed. the SB and BB both have ~7BB, so there is no need to mess around with raises that do not put them all-in. In this partucular case I think I fold, but it's probably close enough that it really depends on the reads. And you can't fold to the re-raise if you happen to find yourself in that position again (though from now on you shouldn't). |
