Re: (11) pocket nines with rag flop
don't know... guess I thought slow playing would be a good idea. what would you bet on the turn/river?

Re: (11) pocket nines with rag flop
this all looks good, but just push the river. no need to get all cutesy.

The nine almost certainly changed nothing from his point of view, and he seems eager to come along on the flop, so charge him to see another card. |

No need to slow play. He doesn't think that 9 helped you.

Re: (11) pocket nines with rag flop
I would bet the turn, probably in the range of 125 to chase away gutshots. You're probably not getting paid off by second or third pair anyway unless they hit their two-outer to trips. The board could get very scary for top set with a 4, 6, or 8. There are certainly times when it's appropriate to check behind on the turn after hitting a huge, disguised hand, but this isn't one of them. If the flop was [ 2h, 6c, 8s ], the risk of losing big when checking behind is more likely offset by what you win when a Q falls on the river and he makes his garbage 2-pair.
Push the river, lazy bastard. Are those last 5 chips to heavy for you? |
