Re: online tougher games than B&M?
online compared to B&M is probably equivalent to somewhere around 1/5 to 1/10 of the B&M stakes.

Re: online tougher games than B&M?
Cuz you can multitable and get more hands in per hour online.
There's no need to play gigantically huge stakes to make 6-figures a year online so people don't. |

why is this true? thanks [/ QUOTE ] Well for one you are able to play a lot lower online. You aren't going to find .5/1 games in a casino. Second, B&M casinos have a lot of tourists and people who like to socialize while playing poker live which just isn't there online. It is also easier for fish to loose their money faster online since the hands come quicker. There are probably a lot more reasons I overlooked as well. |

Re: online tougher games than B&M?
[ QUOTE ]
why is this true? thanks [/ QUOTE ] Here's my theory: In a B&M cardroom, how many hands can you play per hour? 30-40? Online, playing 2 6-player tables, you get 150+ hands per hour. Some people will play more tables, and get in 200 or 300 hands per hour. Because of the ability to play more hands per hour online, the potential profit is much higher. And the best players go where the profit is. Is a good player going to hang out in the $5/$10 tables in a B&M cardroom, hoping to make 3BB/100 hands, or $10 per hour? Not likely. But if you can make 3BB/100 hands at $5/$10 online, and you can get in 150 hands per hour, you're making $45 per hour. There's lots of money to be made online at what would be considered low stakes to B&M players, and so you have highly skilled players taking advantage of this opportunity. |

Re: online tougher games than B&M?
And, a further bit of explanation:
Online, the bad inexperienced players are almost all only playing 1 table at a time. But there are lots of tight multitabling sharks playing 2, 4, even 8 or more tables at a time. Imagine a B&M cardroom with 8 loose unskilled players, and 2 good ones. Now imagine that the 2 good players each cloned 7 more copies of themselves, giving 16 good players and only 8 bad ones. And to make matters worse, the bad players are now losing so much money that half of them leave. Another part of why online play is so much tougher than live play. |

Re: online tougher games than B&M?
I'll condense my analysis a bit and oversimplify things. Basically there is a certain type of fish found in B/M not found online.
Online players are of two sorts: 1) Smart 2) Stupid B/M players are of three sorts: a) Smart b) Stupid c) Too Stupid to operate a PC. Hope this helps. |

Re: online tougher games than B&M?
I play $2-$4 up to $5-$10 ring games BM and $1-$2 to $5-$10 and many SNG's online. I find BM much looser and beatable than online. I think this is due to the fact that people who play online a lot take the game more seriously than someone who plays low limit BM poker on average. Dont get me wrong there are plenty of fish at both but more at BM. Of course online poker is cool cause you do it in your home/reduced rake/ no tipping rude dealers/many more hands/ multitabling...
